The United States welcomed Friday, October 23 the ceasefire agreement signed between the rival parties in Libya under the aegis of the UN, calling for the departure of all foreign fighters from the country.

The agreement is a major step forward towards realizing the interests of all Libyans in de-escalation, stability and the departure of foreign fighters
," said a statement from the United States Embassy in Libya.

We urge domestic and external actors to support the good faith implementation of the agreement
."
