Many questions about flood protection arose in the Münsingen citizens' meeting.

City hall chief Michael Grasl announced the answers in the most recent council meeting.

Münsing

- Johannes Müller had put forward a whole catalog of questions to the citizens' meeting.

The municipal administration has now answered all of them.

First and foremost, it is about the planned flood protection for Ammerland - a project that, from Müller's point of view, is oversized with costs of three million euros upwards.

Mayor Michael Grasl (Free Voters) announced the answers in the municipal council meeting on Tuesday.

A 650-meter-long tunnel is to be built from the so-called Rosswoad on Ammerlander Strasse to Lake Starnberg, which will divert rainwater into Lake Starnberg.

This is to protect the Gasthaus Gerer and seven other properties from flooding.

Johannes Müller doubts that the costs are in a “reasonable economic relationship to the damage to be prevented”.

The municipality replied that in the event of a flood of the century, it would have to be liable for damage to the eight buildings.

For this reason, the Free State is also funding the measure.

There was once talk of 80 percent;

The congregation does not confirm this amount in its reply.

On the other hand, she shares Müller's view that, under certain circumstances, residents may be asked to pay contributions.

This is being checked, it is said.

A smaller solution, such as a tunnel just above the planned fire station on Kapellenweg, as suggested by Müller, will not be funded, explains the municipality.

There are also hardly any other savings opportunities.

Because flood protection planning must be carried out in accordance with the applicable standards and technical guidelines.

Alternatives had been considered in advance together with the commissioned engineering office.

The municipality does not want to comply with Müller's request to publish all documents on flood protection on the Internet.

She writes that the plans can be viewed in the town hall by appointment.

According to the mayor, all lawsuits against the project have now been withdrawn.

There are only a few residents with whom the municipality has to make agreements or secure easements.

I don't like to justify myself every time for things that were decided by a majority by the local council and that have been put on the road.

Mayor Michael Grasl

Grasl took the opportunity to express general criticism of the course of the citizens' meetings in recent years: "I do not always want to justify myself for things that have been decided by a majority by the municipal council and that have been initiated." He sometimes feels like at a tribunal, said Grasl.

And: "The mayor is a reporter and moderator, he is not a main defendant."

Regina Reithardt (Münsing voter group) jumped at the town hall chief.

It would be helpful if citizens put their questions in writing before the meeting, she said.

Georg Sebald (Voters' Group Ammerland) is generally skeptical about such an extensive catalog of questions as Müller's - he asked for information on other points.

Every citizen can get information on current topics in the meetings and in the town hall.
