The Palestinian Authority and the terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip this evening (Friday) condemned the normalization agreement announced between Israel and Sudan.

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said that the Palestinians denounced the move, adding that "nobody has the right to speak for the Palestinian people and on behalf of the Palestinian cause."

And Wasel Abu Yousef, a member of the PLO Executive Committee, announced immediately after the announcement of the agreement that the fact that Sudan Agreed to relations with Israel is "another stab in the back" for the Palestinians.

The agreement, which was announced between the two countries, was presented in a joint statement issued at the end of a telephone conversation between US President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and the two leaders of Sudan's sovereign bodies: Prime Minister Abdullah Hamduk and Provisional Sovereignty Council Chairman Abd al-Fatah al-Burhan.

The statement said Sudan and Israel had agreed to normalize relations and end the war.

In addition, the leaders agreed to establish trade and economic relations.

The leaders agreed that delegations from the two countries would meet in the coming weeks to negotiate cooperation agreements in the fields of agriculture, aviation, immigration and other fields.

"Oppose the disgraceful agreement."

The normalization agreement also received condemnation from terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip.

Hamas condemned the agreement, saying that "the organization received the announcement in shock, it condemns and expresses anger and disgust at the shameful and humiliating normalization that does not suit Sudan."

The organization called on Sudan to "oppose the disgraceful agreement, which will not bring Sudan stability or breakthrough as it claims, but will lead to more dispersal and loss, and will lead to greater Israeli control over the Palestinian people."

Islamic Jihad also condemned the agreement, with a statement from the organization saying that "the agreement is a betrayal of Palestine and the nation, and a threat to Sudan's identity and future."

According to the organization, "the Sudanese regime slips into the Israeli embrace and gives a free gift to Israel."

It added: "Out of the money of the poor and displaced, the Sudanese pay money to get closer to the Americans."

Denounced normalization.

But not all of the Arab world condemned the agreement.

Egypt, Sudan's northern neighbor, which is also in official diplomatic relations with Israel, welcomed the announced agreement.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi welcomed the normalization agreement, writing on Twitter that "I welcome the joint efforts of the United States, Sudan and Israel, and appreciate all efforts aimed at achieving regional stability and peace."

Israel and Sudan: A History of Hostile Relations

In contrast to the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, there were hostile relations between Sudan and Israel.

Sudanese soldiers have fought with Egypt in wars against Israel, and a series of mysterious attacks that have taken place in recent years on Sudanese soil have been attributed to Israel.

Iranian weapons factories and convoys that were supposed to reach Hamas in the Gaza Strip were then attacked.

Sunni Sudan has distanced itself from Shiite Iran in recent years, and the Associated Press reported that under the agreement, Khartoum will define Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.

It was not mentioned in the official statement of the states.

Sudan was included in the list in 1993, under the Islamist regime of dictator Omar al-Bashir, who was accused of sponsoring terrorist organizations, including al-Qaeda.

Many in Sudan feel it was unfair to leave the country under sanctions, preventing it from funding and foreign aid, due to the overthrow of al-Bashir a year and a half ago.

The US Congress will be required to legislate on Sudan to prevent any possibility of claiming additional funds from the victims and families of the victims of the attacks on US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.

The interim government in Sudan is facing a severe economic crisis and pressure from the street, and in recent days thousands have demonstrated in the capital Khartoum and other cities demanding the acceleration of reforms.

Normalization with Israel is a sensitive issue in the country, and in recent weeks Islamist and left-wing politicians have spoken out against it.
