Poissy: a police officer indicted for murder after a chase

2020-10-23T17:58:16.319Z

An official of the Paris anti-crime brigade (BAC) is accused of having shot dead Olivio, 28, on October 17 in Pois

A little less than a week after the tragedy, a 29-year-old policeman was indicted on Wednesday in Versailles (Yvelines) for intentional homicide.

He is suspected of having shot dead, on the night of Saturday, October 17 in Poissy (Yvelines), a 28-year-old man after a thirty-kilometer chase that started in Paris.

The official was released under judicial supervision with a ban on exercising his profession, carrying a weapon and going to the Yvelines.

It is 2:30 am on this first night of curfew when police officers from the Paris anti-micrimanality brigade (BAC) spot a Renault Clio with three men on board on the ring road.

The car swerved and officials decided to check the driver and the two other occupants, aged 24 and 29 respectively.

"A little earlier, the trio had left Poissy to go buy whiskey at La Défense in order to celebrate this last day of freedom before the start of the curfew", explains a source familiar with the matter.

The driver refuses to stop

Despite the orders of the police, Olivio decides not to stop.

“His driver's license has been canceled and he has been arrested three times in the past.

He has only one idea in mind: to go home to return the car to his wife who needs it the next day, ”adds the same source.

Olivio drives without excess, between 80 and 110 km / h on the A13 motorway.

The police followed suit and according to their version, their "radio police" would have broken down.

A technical incident that would have prevented them from warning their colleagues in Yvelines so that they come in reinforcements and set up a roadblock.

The policeman shoots three times

La Clio enters the Beauregard district and engages in the horseshoe that constitutes the rue Charles-de-Foucauld.

The driver loses control, hits a car parked on the road and stops.

An official then gets out of the car and shouts at him to stop.

But Olivio would have restarted and the BAC policeman opened fire three times.

The driver, hit in the shoulder and chest, collapsed on the steering wheel.

Samu doctors tried to bring him back to life, to no avail.

This young man who had only traffic offenses to his credit was the father of two young children.

"It's totally absurd," said a source close to the case.

If he had stopped, he would have been fined.

Maybe he was a little drunk and was afraid of being taken into custody?

For the time being, we cannot say so because the results of toxicology are not yet known. ”

A first version undermined

According to the first version of the police, the driver would have rushed on their colleague who would have had no other choice but to shoot to save his life.

But the investigation conducted by the General Inspectorate of Police (IGPN) reveals another version, supported by the results of the autopsy and ballistics which undermines the state of self-defense.

The official was said to have been on the side when he opened fire on the Clio.

He was taken into police custody earlier this week before being presented to the examining magistrate.

"He ensures that he made a reflex shot when he felt that his life was threatened", confides another source.

This young civil servant, who joined the police in 2013, has been assigned to the anti-crime squad since September.

He is also a shooting instructor as part of his private activities.

This is the first time he has had trouble with the law.

Almost a week after the events, and three days after the ambush extended to two buses in the district of La Maladrerie, which could be a reaction to the death of Olivier, the mayor of Poissy Karl Olive (various right) calls for calm.

He wishes to stress that "the investigation called to shed light on this tragedy is being carried out by the investigating judge of Versailles in all objectivity".
