Health Minister Jens Spahn was the first cabinet member of the federal government to test positive for Corona.
It is now clear: the CDU politician's husband was also infected with the virus.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Health announced on Friday.
Accordingly, Spahn's husband Daniel Funke received his test result late on Thursday evening.
"He and the minister went into domestic isolation on Wednesday afternoon and had a corona test (PCR) done on Thursday morning," it said.
Spahn himself continues to show cold symptoms, said the spokesman.
His husband is currently symptom-free.
Spahn is married to a journalist, Funke is the capital city office manager of Burda Magazine Holding.
The two met in spring 2013.
Spahn's illness had received a wide response.
Cross-party politicians spoke to Spahn on Thursday about their recovery wishes.
Furthermore personal meetings of the cabinet
Despite the health minister's corona infection, the federal government is sticking to the cabinet meetings with government members present.
"It remains with the physical cabinet meetings under the strict infection control regulations mentioned," said a government spokesman on Thursday.
Chancellor Angela Merkel basically follows the recommendations of the Robert Koch Institute with regard to infection protection.
"It can be tested for the corona virus in connection with trips to the European Council in Brussels."
All employees from the minister's immediate environment have now also been examined for the corona virus, but tested negative, according to the Ministry of Health.
"As a precaution, you are working from your home office for the time being."
Other members of the federal government have now also been tested, with negative results.
However, there are regular tests, especially for Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and Foreign Minister Heiko Maas (SPD) when traveling abroad.
