TV journalist Kristen Welker moderated the second duel between Trump and Biden with confidence. Even the president, who had abused her on Twitter in the run-up to the TV debate, won a compliment.

It has been proven that US President Donald Trump does not take the truth very seriously.

And he has a tendency towards excessive exaggeration.

In the second TV duel against his challenger Joe Biden, he remained true to this point.

When Biden accused him of being a racist, Trump boasted that since Abraham Lincoln no one had done more for Black Americans than he did.

Trump's statement that he was "the least racist person in this room" was discussed on social media: "I can't see the audience because it's so dark here. But I don't care who is in the audience, I am the least racist person in this room ".

This scene caused astonishment and severe criticism on Twitter.

In response, the African American Policy Forum think tank tweeted several quotes from Trump that show how racist the president has been in the past.

Among them is the statement that right-wing extremists were present at the demonstrations in Charlottesville in 2017.

Journalist April Ryan has long been a White House correspondent.

But she will have been as annoyed about few statements from the president as about those from Trump.

"I'm screaming," tweeted Ryan, "And why does he say it's so dark that he can't see the people there? Was he looking for black people in the crowd?"

American actor Ato Essandoh wrote: "Anyone who says they are 'the least racist person in the room' is really the most racist person in the room."

The evening's presenter, Kristen Welker, sat right in front of the podium.

She is only the second black journalist in US television duel history to have this opportunity, and she took it.

Welker held the conversation tightly in his hand for more than 90 minutes, was clear in her announcements, and did not allow any intervening.

She could even have turned off the microphone of the two politicians at any time;

This mute function was introduced after the devastating first TV debate between Biden and Trump, which was sunk into chaos mainly because of Trump's permanent interference.

But this time Donald Trump was clearly trying to stick to the rules.

Welker, 44, who has worked for NBC as a correspondent in the White House for years, had also determined the six topics that were discussed, including the corona pandemic, social policy, climate protection, racism.

Before the debate, Trump tried to discredit Welker as "totally partisan" and a "radical left democrat".

In the debate, he paid Welker, whom he addressed with "Kristen, but appreciation:" By the way, respect for the way you do this, that has to be said.

The "New York Times" gives Welker the credit for leading the debate in a much quieter course than was the case when Trump and Biden first met.

"Fox News" presenter Chris Wallace, who failed to lead the interview at the time, commented on his colleague's performance with the sentence: "I'm jealous."
