The firefighting teams continue their efforts to cordon off and extinguish a fire that broke out this morning in the town of Al-Souda in the countryside of Tartous, while the firefighting teams, in cooperation with the people and the Forestry Department of the Tartous Agriculture Directorate, put out three fires that broke out at dawn in agricultural and forestry lands in different areas of the governorate.
The commander of the Tartous Fire Brigade, Colonel Samir Shamma, stated in a statement to SANA that the fires today were distributed in the areas of Dweir Raslan, Hasan Suleiman, Sheikh Saad and Dweir Taha, explaining that the fire of Sheikh Saad came on a group of olive trees and in Suleiman Fort and Dweir Raslan, areas of agricultural and forest lands were damaged, while The Dawir Taha fire was limited to a group of dry herbs.
Shamma called on citizens to be careful and not to set any fires in agricultural lands so that they do not extend to neighboring lands and cause great losses.
In turn, the head of the Forestry Department in the Tartous Agriculture Directorate, Eng. Hassan Nassif, explained that the Dweir Raslan fire broke out at dawn today and was extinguished two hours later, in cooperation between the people and the firefighting teams that are still on the site for monitoring, while the department's two firefighting teams went to help in the fire suppression operations. Which broke out in the town of Soda.
Nassif also called on citizens to pay attention and not to set fires in agricultural and forestry lands, warning of the danger of the fire spreading due to the drought and air that the governorate is witnessing today.
Yesterday, members of the Tartous Fire Brigade put out several fires in the governorate, and the damage was limited to materials.
