"Normalization removes the main obstacle to the direct return of the vast majority of the more than 6,000 infiltrators who still remain in Israel," says the center's director, Adv. Yonatan Jakubowicz. In recent years, some 5,000 Sudanese infiltrators have left Israel voluntarily, It was not possible to force them to leave the country due to the decisions of the Ministry of the Interior and the High Court.

This policy of Israel was different from the line taken by France, Australia, Italy and Belgium, which sent Sudanese infiltrators to their country, including the Darfur region.

"Now there is no longer any reason for Israel to refrain from returning the Sudanese infiltrators, and we call on the government to do so," Jakubowicz added.

Israel Today reported about two months ago that the issue of infiltrators comes up in preliminary talks between the two countries.

An Israeli source, who was involved in talks between the two countries, said at the time that as part of the variety of issues that Israel raises, there are contacts and discussions regarding the return of Sudanese infiltrators to their country.

He did not specify where things stand and whether agreements have been reached.
