The Hagebaumarkt in Holzkirchen wants to enlarge its sales area.

The old building is to be demolished and replaced by a new one.

Holzkirchen

- The members of the building committee agreed at their most recent meeting that Holzkirchen needs a hardware store.

There was also agreement about what this market should sell.

"Groceries have no place in the hardware store," said Hubert Müller (FWG).

His group colleague Martin Taubenberger agreed: "We have other shops for food and drink."

These statements were addressed to Joachim Riker, managing director of Baustoff Union, which operates the Hagebau store in Holzkirchen.

This would like to rebuild, Riker presented the project for the area on Industriestrasse.

They have been in town since 1972, Riker recapitulated.

In 1997 the store was opened at its current location and is now ready for a new building.

Refurbishment is not worthwhile, the basement in the current building is damp.

In addition, the Holzkirchen area offers great purchasing potential, explained the managing director.

A larger Hagebau market could skim off around seven million euros in purchasing power, explained Riker.

However, the prerequisite is an increase in the sales area to a good 5500 square meters, currently it is 3500 square meters.

Existing construction plans have failed in the past because of such an enlargement.

In 2015 they wanted to change the relevant development plan, explained Jennifer Sura from the municipality's building department.

The government of Upper Bavaria intervened, whereupon the idea fell asleep a little.

In addition, there were legal uncertainties regarding the building law on the site of the Hagebaumarkt, as Mayor Christoph Schmid (CSU) noted.

This has been clarified, Riker informed, that they now want to invest.

A single-storey building with 196 parking spaces is planned.

There are also spaces for cargo bikes, said Sura.

Compared to the current building, the delivery is designed in such a way that the neighboring property no longer has to be used.

Taubenberger welcomed the new building and expressed his hope that it would be implemented as quickly as the "Bauhof" project.

However, he gave the future builders the order to concentrate on their core business - trading in building materials.

Robert Wiechmann (Greens) supported this demand.

He also found that sweets and alcohol had no place in a hardware store.

"Because there are already regulations, we don't need any appeals here," he said.

Wiechmann, however, criticized the, in his opinion, high number of parking spaces.

"We don't need to blast everything with parking lots," he said.

His group colleague Moritz Remuta asked why alternative plans are not being pursued.

As an example, he cited a building in which the hardware store stands on stilts, which would free up the space below for parking spaces.

Riker referred to the required economic efficiency of the building project, which in his opinion does not allow such an architecture.

Although he is a fan of such buildings, he said.

But that would make sense, especially in urban areas.

Mayor Schmid was confident that the difficult parking issue could also be solved.

In the commercial sector, individual solutions are required.

And with a view to the product range, he told the future builders on their way home: “If things are built well and there are skilled personnel, then you don't need to sell pasta.

We'll look at it. "
