Dorfen

- Affordable living space in Dorfen is hard to find.

A new apartment is unaffordable, especially for low-income citizens.

In a joint project, the city and the Robert Decker group have now created seven social housing.

The special thing about it: the price per square meter is tied for ten years at 6.90 euros.

Square meter prices of ten euros and more are not uncommon in Dorfen.

One look at the rent index is enough to see the drama of the skyrocketing rental prices.

The city is trying to counteract something with the local model.

On Siemensstrasse in the converted building of the former Tagwerk domicile, seven affordable apartments for low-income citizens have now been created in a joint project between the city and the Robert Decker group.

The project was presented to the public on Friday.

The price per square meter is fixed at EUR 6.90 for ten years.

The city has the right to propose the rental of the apartments.

According to Martina Obermaier from the social welfare office, the city focuses on social aspects when awarding the award, but age or a disability also play a role.

"In any case, priority is given to the citizens of Dorfen," said Obermaier.

Mayor Heinz Grundner sees the joint project as a "win-win situation".

Decker was able to create more living space by expanding the development plan, and in return the city could provide low-income citizens and families with seven affordable social housing.

The location of the apartments is "almost ideal", the train station and bus stop are in the immediate vicinity, and shopping markets are also within walking distance.

Grundner expressed "the wish and hope" that the Decker company, as an apartment owner, "feels connected to the social thought and social obligation" even after the ten years have passed.

"Housing is a basic right for everyone," said the city chief.

Developer Decker referred to the “good mix” of the quarter.

In addition to more than 30 rental apartments, 65 condominiums were also created.

"Wohnwerk" is the name of the facility, which was built using a wood-concrete hybrid construction.

Students from the specialist academy are accommodated in eleven apartments in the former, fundamentally renovated and converted Tagwerk building.

Another eleven apartments are rented to the Barmherzigen Brüder in Algasing, who are opening an outdoor residential complex there for people who need help.

With “special pride” Decker referred to a further eleven apartments in which the first student and trainee dormitory in Dorfen will be accommodated: Every student or trainee who lives in Dorfen or is doing an apprenticeship “gets a discounted, fully furnished apartment here Provided.

You won't find that anywhere else ”.
