The head of the Nation's Cabinet, Santiago Cafiero acknowledged that Argentina "
is going to hit a huge blow as a
result of the pandemic", insisted that "there is no possibility of making an adjustment" and, like the Minister of Economy Martín Guzmán , ruled out a
devaluation
.
The official and right hand of the President of the Nation, Alberto Fernández, stressed: "We came from a very bad government that left poverty of 40 points and inflation of 54 points."
And he clarified: "
Our priority was to dismantle the structure that promoted financial speculation
and discouraged productive investment."
Asked about the possibility of making an
adjustment
in economic terms, Cafiero assured that
"there is no possibility"
of that happening because it is not "a logic, a priority or a tool" for the management that it integrates.
“Even if it had the possibility,
Argentina is going to hit a huge blow this year as a result of the pandemic, like everyone else
where there will be no possibility of an adjustment in liberal terms.
In that sense,
a devaluation is
also
impossible
, because it means increasing poverty, inflation soaring, prices skyrocketing, and retirement assets lose purchasing power, "he added.
"Those who are with the mentality of financial speculation and do not want to adapt to these new priorities where what we want for Argentina is
for the financial system to promote loans for the real economy
to generate production and work," said Cafiero in dialogue with
El Uncover Radio.
With regard to state aid, the Chief of Staff confirmed that
there will be Emergency Assistance for Work and Production
(ATP) 7 and that the Universal Child Allowance (AUH) will reach more boys and girls.
Regarding the Emergency Family Income (IFE), he replied: "
We are looking for tools to make a more focused help
, in case it is not possible, there will be IFE 4".
Finally, regarding tourism, he confirmed that after seven months, Argentina will receive foreign tourists: "We are going to start this week with pilot experiences to resume receptive tourism from neighboring countries."
Along these lines, he accompanied the words of the Minister of Tourism and Sports Matías Lammens who confirmed that in the coming days the borders with Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia and Chile will reopen, to allow the entry of foreign tourists.
As specified, it will only be by air through Ezeiza and by sea through the Port of Buenos Aires, while land crossings will continue to be closed.
Those who arrive on flights will do so through the Ezeiza Airport.
In these cases, tourists will be destined for the city of Buenos Aires and for a short period of time, the maximum of which would be 10 days.
They must
present a negative test
for coronavirus, but it has not yet been defined at what time of the trip.
However, Cafiero clarified that
"for the total reopening" of the borders "the epidemiological conditions are not yet in place"
and argued that "Argentina today does not have the possibility of completely opening" tourism.
