As it looks right now the coming winter will be rainy and rainy much less than the previous two but the winter clock is not waiting for the weather, and is coming into effect today.

From now on the days will get shorter and shorter, and in fact already in the early afternoon it is likely that the various spaces in the house will be quite dark.

The combination of the few hours of light and the fact that we are often at home (probably this year when the flu and the corona are raging outside at the same time) makes the different rooms dark and gloomy and when this is the case only artificial lighting can help.

In recent years, lighting fixtures have become real sculptures and the hidden functional lighting is used not only to flood the house with light but also as aids that amplify certain elements and obscure others.

Lighting also serves as an aid to empowering certain elements and obscuring others.

"In winter, the weather turns gray and affects the amount of light even in spaces that are inherently considered bright, so it is recommended to use lighting fixtures with stronger light that will give the room a more cheerful atmosphere," says Haim Ben Zaken, CEO of Lighting Warehouses. "Warm, neutral or cold. In winter it is especially recommended to use warm yellow bulbs (3000K) that will give the space a soft, pleasant and enveloping look. In general, white lighting is recommended only in areas that require orientation and focus - such as the kitchen, where we will not change the lighting."

Interior designer Keren Niv Toledano believes that the appearance of rooms in the house changes completely due to winter light and therefore our eye perceives the colors and shades completely differently: "It affects the way color is embodied in space."

Artificial lighting gives each color a different hue than what you see in natural lighting.

According to her, any illumination (depending on the intensity, color of the bulb and the distance of the light fixture from the object) will emphasize a particular tone that is in the color.

For example, gray colors that have brown tones in them, combined with warm lighting, can show us more red or pink.

"Colors have a tendency to absorb the particularly dark light in them, so if the wall is painted in a dark shade it is likely that the lighting will give it a more dramatic and powerful look than it will see in natural light. The more physically away from the wall the light beam will disperse and the intensity will decrease."

Since in the winter months the subject of lighting is becoming more important, it's time to use it as a tool to upgrade the design of the space and create an atmosphere.

For the sake of interest, it is recommended to combine hanging or standing light fixtures with lampshades of different materials and warm and rich colors: "The lamps are now more textural than in the past," explains Ben Zaken.

"Some of them are made of perforated metals that allow the beam of light to burst through them and create a sophisticated play of light and shadow on the walls and ceiling. This coming winter, amorphous and geometric light fixtures as well as retro-style light fixtures will stand out."

And what colors will stand out this coming winter?

According to Ben-Zaken, from a glance at the new collections, the predominant coloration seems to be intense and dramatic: "Another trend is ceramic lighting fixtures, with a clear hint of retro style and collections made of broken terracotta tiles in deep and intense shades that precisely because they are not completely perfect they soak up a harmonious atmosphere and make the space personal and full of character Says an old man.
