The theatrical performance “Execution” by Zinati Qudsiah today was able to restore the shine of the House of Culture theater through the presence of a large number of theater fans and those interested in cultural affairs in Homs after a halt since last spring as a result of quarantine procedures.
The show, which was recently presented in Damascus over a period of two weeks, was produced by the Directorate of Theaters and Music, and is based on the play Forget Herostrat by the Russian doctor Gregory Gorin, and it tells about the struggle between right and wrong and addresses the extent of corruption’s ability to continue and control destiny.
The director of the work, the artist Zinati Qudsiya, indicated in a statement to SANA that Homs is a city of taste and beauty and has the ability to evaluate high art, and from here the destination was after Damascus, considering that theater “is the first platform that we must issue to our children and ourselves.”
In turn, the actor Mahmoud Khalili talked about his character as the judge, who fears that justice will escape through a group of people who are complicit with the criminal and end up carrying out retribution in his hand, which is parallel to the death sentence.
Actor Qusay Qudsiyeh, owner of the role of "Herostrat", who burns the temple, noted that the whole show is a trial of the criminal through which many events, personalities and omissions are revealed.
Artists Safa Raqmani and Zuhair Abdul Karim indicated that the Homs fans are educated, loving, and have a clean eye and ear capable of choosing and supporting purposeful art.
From the audience, the writer Dr. Ghassan Lafi Tohme pointed out that the supreme message of the performance is the call for the judiciary and the law to be above everyone, noting the theatrical performance of the actors, especially that the play was staged about a quarter of a century ago, but it was not with the same components and performance, referring to what Qudsiah presented to art and theater in general and especially in the field of The art of monodrama with the texts of the late Mamdouh Adwan.
It is noteworthy that the artist Zinati Qudsiyeh is currently preparing for a new presentation entitled The Night of the Arrest of Handzala, which will be presented in approximately 3 months.
