A young man of 20 years was since this Saturday in police custody in Brive (Corrèze), suspected of stabbing a police officer without injuring him, during a check in a shopping arcade in the city, a- we learned this Sunday, October 25 from corroborating sources.
A report of the man had been made the day before to the police, after he had threatened a security guard and a cashier of a supermarket of the same shopping mall with a knife, fleeing with a stolen food, a- we specified to the prosecutor's office in Brive.
As the police approached a police officer on Saturday around 2:30 p.m., the young suspect brandished a knife and tried to give several blows to the chest, the prosecution said.
The police officer targeted was not injured, protected by his jacket, a police source said.
One of the police officers used his electric pulse gun (taser) during the eventful arrest, after which the man was taken into police custody.
The Brive prosecutor's office confirmed the placement in police custody, which was extended on Sunday, for attempted homicide on a person holding public authority.
The suspect, on whose profile the prosecution did not give details, should be the subject of a psychiatric examination.
