To heat the space and fit the budget, instead of parquet, the wood cladding was placed on the wall.

People often make the mistake of thinking that functionality should come at the expense of visibility, but with the right thinking and the right tools it is possible to combine functionality with design without compromising the look of the home.

Take for example the issue of storage - functionally, storage spaces are an essential commodity in every home, especially a home with children.

Aesthetically, storage is a design challenge, in terms of its proper integration in the space and in a way that will not only be harmonious with the overall design concept, but also contribute to it.

Change direction: To enjoy the view you had to rotate the whole house

This is exactly the issue that designer Maya Alex wanted to crack for a family that purchased a contractor's apartment in Rishon Lezion.

This is a new apartment intended for the residence of a couple and their two small children and it was clear from the beginning that this is going to be a very functional apartment suitable for the family, but on the other hand does not spare style.

Does not spare style.

Maya's view of the apartment was holistic.

Even separate spaces like the bedrooms and bathrooms have entered a broad vision of colors and style that she has applied to the entire house.

In order to meet the budget, Maya chose to cover the living room wall with three-layer oak parquet instead of laying parquet on the floor of the apartment.

Wood contributes to warmth and gives a feeling of a home that has life.

The other colors that starred in the house are the various turquoises with touches of gold and yellow.

Since this is a small apartment, the entrance closet has been replaced with a hallway closet which sits inside a niche in order to create maximum utilization of space.

This is a closet for everything - shoes, bags, coats and other accessible things that will be used by all members of the household.

On the closet, the designer rode two mirrors and adjusted the lighting around it to create a central and main area in the house, a place where you can get organized a moment before leaving the house.

In the master bedroom the Alex has a particularly large closet (Riviera closets) that covers the entire wall with a uniform element that creates a great look, and contains plenty of storage space.

The cabinet is adapted to the dimensions of the room and reaches up to the ceiling, thus preventing the accumulation of dust and dirt on top of it.

It is also painted in the color of the wall so as not to attract the focal point to it, but at the same time it is still very classic and adds a design touch to the room.

Anchor handles on the closet contribute to the adventurous atmosphere in the room.

The child's bedroom is designed as a "World Travel" sign with a dominant wall painted in a grayish blue hue with stickers that create the world map.

Here, too, special emphasis was placed on cabinets and storage and an opening cabinet with shutters was chosen for the son's room.

The color of the closet is silver, not too dark, not too cluttered and it has been fitted with handles in the shape of anchors, which create a feeling of going on an adventure.

The extra bedroom belongs to an older child, so it was adapted in a style that suits his age and can accompany him in the years to come - with denim-textured wallpaper and a double bed.

Although this is a very small room, here too it was important for the designer and tenants not to compromise on storage space.

The cabinet chosen for the limited space is a cabinet with sliding doors.

In the children's shower, Maya wanted an interesting and pleasant color that will not get tired after a while, so a charming tile was chosen that combines pastel shades and geometric shapes.

The closet in the bathroom is painted in a color that brings us back to one of the shades in the tiles as well as to the scale of turquoise and aqua colors in the house.
