The Grafrath fire brigade was busy for hours on Friday to contain an oil pollution of the Amper.
Grafrath
- During construction work on the way to school, an unknown amount of hydraulic oil ran into a gully that leads directly to the Amper on Brucker Straße, 300 meters away.
Local residents who noticed an oil film on the river called the rescue workers.
With the help of oil barriers, the further spread was prevented.
Around 50 liters of oil-water mixture could be taken from the sewer.
Flushing with the help of a specialist company further limited the risk.
