Marlène Schiappa estimated Sunday that the leader of France Insoumise (LFI), Jean-Luc Mélenchon, had a "
cloudy speech
" on secularism.
"
Jean-Luc Mélenchon has a troubled speech, (...) he fights for the defense of a distorted and radical vision of a religion by a relativist speech
", declared the Minister Delegate on CNews, in response to a question on the words of the Minister of Education Jean-Michel Blanquer denouncing “
the ravages
” of “
Islamo-leftism
” at the university conveyed, according to him, by LFI in particular.
Schiappa also judged that "
some
" in rebellious France were "
not clear on these questions
" of secularism.

One of the main criticisms made by his opponents to Jean-Luc Mélenchon is his participation, on November 10, 2019, in the demonstration "
against Islamophobia
" to which Marwan Muhammad, former leader of the Collectif contre l'islamophobie in France.
