A worker died and two other Homs Refinery workers were injured by gas inhalation today while they were carrying out maintenance operations on the torch line at the refinery.
Eng. Suleiman Abdul-Razzaq Al-Muhammad, General Director of the General Company for Homs Refinery, indicated in a statement to SANA that the accident occurred during the maintenance work of the torch line, where gas spread from one of the valves led to the worker's fainting and then death, in addition to the injury of his colleagues.
Al-Muhammed stated that the deceased worker passed out despite wearing the mask and clothing designated for work, and in the presence of the security and safety department personnel at the refinery.
Al-Muhammad indicated that the injured were treated at the Labor Hospital in Homs to receive treatment, and one of them was treated and discharged, while the other worker continues treatment within the hospital and his condition is stable.
