The Ministry of Health has received three ambulances and five mobile clinics from the World Health Organization to support health care services and the ambulance system, in light of the challenges posed by unilateral Western coercive measures against the health sector in Syria.

In a statement to reporters after receiving the aid, the Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan Al-Ghobash, explained that the aid provided will contribute in the future to securing support for the Syrian ambulance system, a large part of which has been destroyed by terrorism during the past years, indicating that a protocol has been signed with the World Health Organization to support this system, revive it and compensate for the deficiency.

Dr. Al-Ghobash indicated that the ministry has a program that it adjusts according to necessities and needs and seeks to invest aid in the best way for the citizen, as a program has been set up by the Directorate of Emergency and Preparedness to be used in remote and remote places indicating that the benefit of it is the presence of the medical staff in it and using it according to necessity and need and it is equipped to deal With any pathological condition and diagnosed.

The Minister of Health noted the contribution of the World Health Organization to the permanent provision of support and assistance to the health sector in Syria and coordination with the Ministry, whether in the field of technical support and development of competencies and skills of health workers of various groups or financial support for equipment and mechanisms.

In a similar statement between the Regional Director of the World Health Organization, Dr.Ahmed Al-Mandhari, the visit aims to directly identify the challenges and needs required in Syria, indicating that today assistance has been provided to meet the needs of the health system in the field of emergency services, whether in terms of dealing with the Covid 19 pandemic or services. The other that the Syrian citizen needs in general.

Dr. Al-Mandhari stressed that the organization is continuously seeking more cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the concerned authorities in Syria, indicating that aspects of the support provided by the organization were discussed in order to strengthen the response and emergency program in Syria, which has been exposed during the last period to many challenges and shortages of supplies.

For her part, the representative of the World Health Organization in Syria, Dr. Akjemal Maktoum, confirmed that the organization has been working closely with the Ministry of Health for many years in order to respond to health needs and joint cooperation, indicating that the aid provided today is part of the aid to strengthen the ambulance system in Syria.

It indicated that since the beginning of the war on Syria, 69 ambulances have been provided, in addition to more than 30 mobile medical clinics.
