The PM group proposes that the city administration present to the city council "the gradual development of the radio equipment locations" from April 2014 until today.
At the same time, the city should check whether the “excellent fiber optic network” in Penzberg makes additional mobile phone coverage “inside the home” unnecessary.
The parliamentary group also requests that a new measurement report be drawn up which includes a new measurement point in the future residential area on Birkenstrasse and assesses the consequences of the new frequencies.
It also says that the city administration should obtain neutral information on the new 5G standard and update the Penzberg mobile network provision concept from December 2007.
The retrofitting of transmission systems to the 5G standard had already been discussed in the August meeting of the Penzberg city council.
The influence of the city is small, it said there.
This is limited to the location search for new masts;
Existing masts, however, are likely to be expanded or converted by the providers without consultation.
At that time, it remained unclear which mobile radio stations had already switched to the 5G standard.

As Stefan Ahne, responsible for IT and communication technology at the city of Penzberg, explained when our newspaper asked, the city was not informed directly by the providers.

According to Ahne, the main locations of the mobile communications providers are on the high-rise opposite the town hall, on the Berghalde, on the west bypass, in the Nonnenwald industrial park and on Meichelbeckstrasse.
In Penzberg, he explains, the three providers are represented together at almost all locations, which he describes as desirable.
According to him, the city of Penzberg has not received any inquiries from providers for new locations.
