Sunday, the Chileans voted overwhelmingly in favor of a new Constitution where the "yes" won by more than 78%.
During this referendum, voters also acted in the same altitudes, at 79%, the body responsible for drafting the future fundamental law: a
joint
“constituent convention”
made up of 155 representatives to be elected on April 11, 2021. A second referendum will be organized in 2022 to ratify the new document.
The next steps in the constitutional process were not the priority of the tens of thousands of people gathered in Plaza Italia, Santiago.
The epicenter of the social movement against inequality, started a year ago, capsized with happiness, when the first estimates were announced on Sunday evening.
“We have just marked the history of our country,”
