The TuS footballers, the TuS support association, the ESC Geretsried and the ice hockey support association can look forward to a generous donation.

The long-time employee of our newspaper, Edi Hien, took into account all four associations in his will.

  • The "Geretsrieder Original" Edi Hien died on September 11, 2019 after a long illness.

  • The longtime reporter of our newspaper was a big fan of Geretsrieder ice hockey and football.

  • The four associations that were included in his will each receive 15,000 euros.

Geretsried

- He loved her, the ice hockey teams of the River Rats and the soccer teams of TuS Geretsried.

Now Eduard "Edi" Hien, who died thirteen months ago at the age of 61, has delighted those clubs that have given him so much joy throughout his life with a very special gift - a legacy totaling 60,000 euros.

The sum goes in equal parts (15,000 euros each) to four clubs - the Ice Hockey Club and the River Rats as well as the Soccer Club and the soccer department of TuS Geretsried.

Soccer and ice hockey were his family

“Der Edi”, as the former spokesman in the ice rink and long-time sports reporter for Isar-Loisachboten / Geretsrieder Merkur was called by everyone, wrote this wish in his will before his death in September last year.

“It was his goal to pass this part of the money on to the clubs from the proceeds of his apartment,” said Edi's younger brother Hannes Hien at a press conference in the clubhouse of the Isarau stadium.

“He loved the sport, ice hockey as a young boy.

Football was added later to compensate, ”reported the brother.

"And because he was so close, he also knew: Sport costs money."

The "Geretsrieder Original" did not have its own family with wife and children.

“Football and ice hockey - those were his family,” says Hannes Hien.

That is why he wanted to let the two Geretsried clubs participate.

"I can only say: He did it right", emphasizes the younger brother and added with a smile: "I think he's watching us from somewhere in the sky - and is really happy."
