Firefighting teams extinguish the fire in the village of Al-Battar in Tartous countryside, and other fires in the governorate

The firefighters put out the fire that broke out in the village of Al-Battar in the Mashta Al-Helou area in the countryside of Tartous, which broke out on a land planted with apple trees, in addition to several fires in different areas of the governorate.

Engineer Hassan Nassif, head of the Forestry Department in the Tartous Agriculture Directorate, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent that the ruggedness of the region and its mountainous terrain in which the fire broke out in addition to the wind speed was a reason for delaying the process of extinguishing it, noting that firefighting teams from Homs, Tartous and the people of the region participated in the great efforts that were made in The process of extinguishing the fire, pointing out that it is in the cooling phase now to avoid its renewal.

Nassif explained that the firefighters in the centers affiliated to the Agriculture Directorate put out a number of fires that affected forest and agricultural areas in the villages of Al-Jarinat Kafr Jawaya and Badada, and near the Al-Basil Dam in the Safita area, in addition to two fires that broke out in the Qadmous area, one of which affected agricultural areas in the village of Biskaya and the other in the village of Fnaiteq. On about 10 dunums of pine, oak and polar trees.

Nassif added that the fire that broke out in the Al-Arida border area was extinguished, in addition to a fire with areas of weeds and thorns that broke out on the campus of the Marshin School in the village of Malakah.
