A traffic accident that caused the overturning of two trucks left at least 7 dead and 12 injured on Sunday night in Guatemala.
The incident occurred in the Belén village, in Nuevo Palmar, in the western department of Quetzaltenango, according to a consolidated report between firefighters and the Red Cross.
The vehicles involved were carrying 8 and 12 people, respectively.
After the collision, the trucks attacked other villagers who were sitting on the side of the road, at kilometer 193 of the route that goes from Retalhuleu to Quetzaltenango.
The cause of the accident is attributed to a brake system failure in one of the vehicles, according to rescuers.
