The spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, confirmed that the US statements about lowering the ceiling for the possibility of using nuclear weapons "raise a special Russian concern and contain sharp expressions that descend to the point of rudeness."
Commenting on the US State Department's report on international security in the cyber field issued a few days ago, Zakharova said, according to Russia Today: “This report is based on anti-Russian rhetoric and includes sharp phrases close to rudeness and repetition of the accusations leveled against Russia of irresponsible and unfounded behavior in the cyber field. Pointing out that this issue is still at the forefront of internal political conflicts as a means of influencing the masses in the context of the conflict before the US elections.
Zakharova stressed that the new US report showed "the United States ignoring the culture and rules of communication between countries," stressing that Russia's positions on the use of information and communication technology are in fact unrelated to what Washington claims.
And Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed earlier today that the US withdrawal from the Treaty Banning Medium and Short Range Missiles is a fatal mistake that would escalate and increase the possibility of confrontation.
