Is the unthinkable about to happen?
Last June, at the end of two months spent in isolation, bloodless France finally regained its breath.
Reuniting with family, returning to work, going out with friends, going to a restaurant, going on vacation seemed like so many luxuries that were said to be never given up again.
The government, relieved by this first victory, promised to do everything possible to deal with a possible second wave of the epidemic.
Out of the question, we said at the top of the state, to inflict a new confinement on the country, which would not support it.
Three months later, beds and staff are still so badly needed - but what have we done this summer?
- to face the virus.
At the rate things are going, from curfew to curfew, we are, alas, once again embarking on the perilous path of containment.
Do we have the means?
Nothing is less sure.
