A trans actress of more than 50 years has it very difficult to end up as the protagonist of a big-budget series of one of the great television groups in Spain. It happened to Isabel Torres, a Canarian woman who had been on local radio and television for years, with
Veneno
,
the series by Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi. Torres won the role of the transsexual icon La Veneno: it was the opportunity of a lifetime. Soon, however, she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. "I could die at any moment," she recalls now, with the series finished and premiered on Atresplayer Premium. The importance of the project for the group, she adds, motivated her to stay in her fight.
