The Regional Director of the World Health Organization for the Eastern Mediterranean, Dr. Ahmed Al-Mandhari, and the representative of the World Health Organization in Syria, Dr. Akjemal Maktumova, and the accompanying delegation, during a visit to the University Children's Hospital in Damascus, briefed on the reality of the curative and medical services provided to patients in the Central Aid Department, which was rehabilitated and recently opened in joint cooperation between the two sides.

In a statement to the media, following a tour of the hospital that included central ambulance, incubator aid and outpatient clinics, Al-Manzari pointed out that this is the second visit of the World Health Organization delegation to the hospital, during which they were briefed on the reality of work in it after the rehabilitation operations carried out for the central ambulance department and expansion work in general and the availability of medical devices and equipment And make the necessary evaluation about that, in addition to identifying the training needs that the hospital's staff and specialists need in this field.

Al-Manzari emphasized that the organization is interested in aspects that strengthen the health system, enhance its presence and enable it to provide the best health services to all those in need, indicating that the organization continues to provide the required support to the Children's Hospital and the rest of the health institutions in Syria and to provide the necessary support to it through cooperation and partnership with various supporters.

In turn, Dr. Akjmal confirmed that the World Health Organization is cooperating with all health partners in Syria from the Ministry of Health and Higher Education, which is producing doctors and health personnel through universities and health institutes, and there is good cooperation with it in terms of training medical staff as well as support for university hospitals scattered in the governorates, expressing its appreciation. The level of services provided in the Children's Hospital ambulance after performing the repair and rehabilitation operations and the efforts made by the medical staff in this field.

She added that the World Health Organization supports all Syrian health institutions as much as possible to achieve its motto "Health for All", whether by providing medicines or supplies, as well as supporting the capabilities of health workers who provide health services in these institutions.

General Director of the University Children's Hospital in Damascus, Dr. Rustum Makiya, expressed his appreciation for the World Health Organization's permanent support to the hospital, whether financially for restoration work or in terms of providing dozens of competitors for the ambulance and care departments in the hospital, which suffers from congestion and the great pressure of auditors from all governorates around the clock as it is a specialized hospital, referring to The hospital’s need for more medical, nursing and technical personnel to fill the shortage and the necessity of opening specialized centers and hospitals for children in other governorates to relieve the pressure on the hospital in Damascus.

Earlier, the World Health Organization delegation visited the Zuhair Habi Health Center in Damascus and was briefed on the reality of the medical services provided within its specialized clinics, the vaccination clinic, the radiology department, and family planning services.

In a statement to SANA, Dr. Al-Mandhari noted the level of medical services provided by health workers at the center to all citizens, indicating that the center is making great efforts to support all sectors in light of dealing with the Corona pandemic and the accompanying scarcity in securing needs.

For his part, President of the Fourth Health District, Dr. Muhammad Mardini, pointed out that the reality of the real services provided by the center has been examined, the volume of work and the number of auditors, in addition to learning about work obstacles and how to secure the patients' needs of medicines, especially chronic ones.

Dr. Hazar Raef, Director of Damascus Health Center, and Director of Preparedness and Emergency at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Tawfiq Hassaba, participated in the tour to the health center.
