A strong earthquake measuring 5.2 degrees on the Richter scale hit the city of Bhabad in Yazd Province, central Iran, at dawn today.
IRNA quoted the Seismological Center of the Geophysical Institution at the University of Tehran as saying in a report that the quake struck at a depth of eight kilometers from the surface of the earth, and its center was at the confluence of the eastern longitude 55.93 and the northern latitude 32.25 degrees.
There were no immediate reports of casualties and possible damage from the quake.
Last Saturday, an earthquake measuring 5.6 degrees struck an area between the provinces of Qazvin and Hamadan, northwestern Iran, without causing casualties.
