Demonstrations against Corona's restrictions spread last night (Monday) across Italy, and acts of violence were reported in two major cities in the north of the country - Turin and Milan.
Eyewitnesses said several luxury stores, including the Gucci chain, were looted in central Turin as young people took to the streets after dark, lighting fireworks and torches.
Police responded by firing tear gas in an attempt to restore order to the city, the capital of the wealthy Piedmont province.
In Milan, the capital of the neighboring province of Lombardy, which was hit hard by the plague, clashes broke out between protesters and police.
"Liberty, liberty, liberty," the protesters shouted as they confronted police in the city center.
On Sunday, the government announced the closure of bars and restaurants at 6pm and shut down gyms, cinemas and swimming pools in order to stop the second wave of the virus spreading across the country.
Several counties, including Lombardy and Piedmont, have imposed a night curfew.

Many small businesses, already badly damaged by the general closure imposed in March and April, warn that the new restrictions could lead them to bankruptcy.
While for the first closure the Italians obeyed without protest, the second round of restrictions met with resistance.
Demonstrators took to the streets of Treviso, Trieste, Rome, Naples, Palermo and Catania, among others.
The government, seeking to calm the winds, has promised to introduce a package of compensation to businesses affected by the new restrictions.
After the second wave did not seem to hit Italy hard unlike other European countries, since the beginning of the month the rate of infection has been rising rapidly.
