Coronavirus in Germany: All the numbers, all the data

How many people in Germany have been

infected

with the

Sars-CoV-2

coronavirus

?

falling?

How many people died from Covid-19?

This article offers you a constantly updated overview of the coronavirus in all German districts.

Our coronavirus map shows you all cases of

infections

and

deaths

in all 401 German districts that have been confirmed to us by the respective authorities.

It is good to know that a certain amount of time elapses between the infection of a person and the appearance in the numbers.

What exactly the numbers mean and how we collect them, we have written down for you below.

On the

map

, a

district

is colored

the

more purple, the more it is affected by infections per 100,000 inhabitants.

Questions and answers: Coronavirus card for Germany

How do I use the above corona card?

On the smartphone you can zoom in on the map with two fingers or the plus-minus symbols in the upper right corner.

From a certain zoom level, the districts are then labeled.

The section can be moved in the same way.

On your computer, click on the symbols to zoom - alternatively you can use the CTRL key on your keyboard together with the mouse wheel.

A tip or a click on the district reveals all associated coronavirus data.

How up-to-date is the corona data?

We are constantly updating the numbers.

You will find a time in the footer of our map.

However, the data cannot reflect the current daily infection rate.

The background to this is the reporting chain, which ranges from the occurrence of the infection to the test to the laboratory and the health department to the official figures.

What do the numbers say and what don't?

The number of infections includes all cases of infection with the novel Sars-CoV-2 coronavirus, which has been recorded and confirmed by the health authorities.

The deaths depend on the federal states: some consider deaths with a Covid 19 disease, some only take one death directly from the disease caused by the coronavirus.

Where the coronavirus data and numbers come from, what they mean

Where does the data come from?

We work with the Munich-based company Fusionbase, which laboriously queries the official data directly from the German federal states and their respective responsible authorities.

We interpret this data and prepare it, for example in the form of a map of Germany.

With our additional Bavaria offer, we obtain the data directly from the Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL).

Why can I not find any information on the number of reproductions?

At the level of the German districts, from our point of view, specifying the number of reproductions does not currently make sense.

For example, for Germany or federal states, it indicates how many people are infected by an infected person.

So it describes the speed of the coronavirus spread *.

For German districts, however, this is not shown because the number of cases is often too low and / or out of date and there is other data at this level that better depict the infection process.

Where can I find number x, where is information y?

We are also permanently expanding this offer for you.

Feel free to write us your suggestions.

Even if the coronavirus situation in Germany has now eased somewhat, the development of data and research is still rapid.

We try to take this into account.

One sentence for coloring the map: We consciously color a district purple at one third of the maximum value of all districts in order to be able to offer a meaningful map throughout Germany.

In this way we compensate for the fact that some German districts such as Tirschenreuth fall out of the ordinary with extreme values.

You can always find the exact dates by clicking on the district.

Where can I find more interesting coronavirus stories?

In graphics, for example, we show how dramatically the coronavirus has changed our lives.

We explain how Sars-CoV-2 should actually be classified in comparison to the classic known flu *.

And we have researched which terms and values are most important in the current discussion about the virus.
