Just two weeks after announcing the entry into force of a curfew, Emmanuel Macron will once again speak out and announce new restrictions to stem the Covid-19 epidemic.
According to the Elysee, the President of the Republic will speak on television Wednesday evening, at 8 p.m., to unveil these measures, which could go as far as a new confinement.
Since Tuesday morning, the entire executive has been on a war footing to find the appropriate response to the surge in the number of cases, hospitalizations and deaths linked to the coronavirus.
Tuesday morning, Emmanuel Macron convened a defense council in the presence of Jean Castex and a dozen ministers.
A second defense council is to be held on Wednesday morning, before the cabinet meeting, to decide on the nature of the new restrictions.
On Twitter, the Prime Minister deemed “essential” “new measures” to fight the Covid-19 epidemic.
He also announced to political leaders that debates followed by votes on the fight against Covid-19 would take place in the National Assembly on Thursday morning and in the Senate in the afternoon.
