"Biden is not Obama, he is from a different school. Biden and Kamla Harris is the most pro-Israel ticket we could have hoped for in the Democratic Party. So my suggestion is to see Biden's victory, if it happens, as an opportunity and not a crisis. "I'm confused with the Democratic Party and I think there is no better duo for us to dance this tango with."

This is what Danny Dayan, the outgoing Consul General of Israel in New York, says on the podcast "Talk of the Week" presented by his political correspondent Tal.

Dayan praised the Trump administration's policy toward Israel and said it was extremely friendly, "on a historic scale."

However, in the current circumstances, Dayan says, if Biden wins, he is also the preferred Democratic candidate over Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"I once heard Biden say he disagrees with almost nothing Bibi says, but he likes this bastard. Today we know that personal relations are an important component of international relations. An open secret that Netanyahu would have preferred a Republican but if he was doomed to work with Democrats - Biden is It's a relatively easy choice for him. "

Referring to the large gap between the overwhelming support of American Jews in Biden and the tremendous popularity of Trump in Israel, Dayan says: "I would like the main voting consideration of American Jews to be Israel, but it is not - not even the second or third. In Israel we sometimes think a Jew The United States is Israelis on hold, but they are Americans for everything, with a great affinity for Israel but Americans. They vote according to American considerations, their worldview is liberal and open, so they vote for the Democratic candidate.I would like the Israeli issue to take a higher place in the considerations? "But we need to understand that this is not the case. They will vote for Biden anyway, because of Trump's immigration policy, because of Trump's health policy, because of Donald Trump's character. For them, Trump is toxic and everything he touches is toxic."

Despite this, he believes that the great crisis between Israel and American Jewry is not about politics, but about religious pluralism.

"The Western Wall as an example - it creates more friction than on political issues, where even if there are disagreements the Jews of the United States understand that Israel is a sovereign state and are willing to back it. On issues concerning their rights, we make them feel unwanted, if not foreign in the Jewish state "These are not disagreements, but an injury that for many is a personal injury. It will continue as long as the indifference or lack of interest of Israeli society in the Jews of the United States continues."

"A convenient choice for Netanyahu."

He adds that "I am not worried about this or that crisis and what the title will be next week, I am very worried about what will be written in the book of Jewish history to be written in 50 or a hundred years. I am very afraid that there is a danger that it will be written during the 21st century "Divide into two tribes or worse, one of the tribes is lost. And if that happens we can not say we are not responsible for it, because in the end we are the older brother with the responsibility and we do not fulfill that responsibility."

Dayan also spoke about Trump's legacy in the Middle East, the disappearance of Israel and policy issues other than the campaign, the extreme trend towards the left in the Democratic Party, and is the annexation even more relevant?
