Just a week until the day of the US presidential election, a record number of Americans have already voted in the early elections.

This is after an unprecedented campaign that exposed the deep polarization in America, and took place in the shadow of the corona plague.

Most national polls show Democratic candidate Joe Biden's advantage over Republican President Donald Trump, but within the states themselves - which are deciding the race because of the electoral system - the battle is even closer.

Although Election Day is November 3, it is possible that the identity of the winner will not be known during the night but after long days of legal battles.

These may be influenced by Conservative Judge Amy Connie Barrett, whose appointment to the Supreme Court was approved tonight by Republicans in the Senate, despite opposition from Democrats.

They wanted to wait until the election results were known, but Trump pushed for its approval soon to expand the conservative majority in court to six to three.

Nearly 60 million Americans have already voted in the by-election or by mail to date, more than the total of the early 2016 vote, which totaled 58 million people.

According to this trend, the overall turnout in the upcoming elections will break a record of more than a hundred years, since the 1908 election.

The high voter turnout indicates both the enthusiasm of voters to decide between Trump and Biden, and the fear of congestion at the polls on election day on November 3rd.

According to the polls, Democrats are more eager to vote by mail, while Republicans, encouraged by Trump's unfounded allegations of widespread counterfeiting, prefer to physically go to the polls.

In the last days of the campaign, Trump is investing enormous efforts in several key countries, the victory of which is critical for him to achieve the 270 coveted electors who guarantee victory.

In 2016 he received about three million fewer votes than his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton in the general count, but in the American system this does not prevent a candidate from winning the election - he just needs to win in the right countries.

270 Electors for Victory: This is how a US president is elected

Map of the electors according to the surveys

Trump drew 304 electors four years ago, with his victories by a narrow margin in

Michigan

,

Wisconsin

and

Pennsylvania

guaranteed him the victory over Clinton.

Polls show an advantage for Biden in these countries.

There are several other fringe candidates running in the election, including candidates from the Libertarian Party and the Green Party, and a few other candidates who do not appear at all on the ballot papers in all countries - including rapper Kenya West.

In the blitz of recent days, Trump will visit this week, trying to put behind him his infection with the corona virus earlier this month, in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin,

Arizona

and

Nevada

.

He attracts to his rallies thousands of his supporters, who do not particularly adhere to the rules of social distance even though their candidate has undergone hospital treatments.

Biden, on the other hand, holds more limited events, in a drive-in format, and makes sure to wear a mask despite the president's ridicule.

One of the most important states is

    Pennsylvania

, which the candidates have reached in recent days, and without it each of the candidates will have a very hard time winning.

It is considered the home state of Biden and therefore a loss in it may bode well in other important countries as well, but polls show a close battle over its 20 electors.

"I think we're going to win in Pennsylvania by a bigger margin than we did last time," Trump sounded confident before the rally at Allentown on Sunday.

He won the country by a margin of only about 50,000 votes.

Republicans are trying to ride on what Biden said in the last presidential confrontation, about his desire to "move" from the oil industry, which provides many jobs in Pennsylvania.

The Democratic candidate was quick to clarify his remarks in the days since, when members of his party in other countries where the oil and gas industries are significant also shrugged off his remarks.

Biden is expected to get back on the road today and reach

    Georgia

, whose 16 electors have become competitive this year after decades of being a Republican stronghold.

Trump defeated Clinton by 5% four years ago, and since then Bill Clinton has not won any Democratic candidate.

A victory for Biden in it would completely change the map and the early plans of the Republicans.

Whoever joined Biden in the last line is Barack Obama, who worked with him for eight years when he was president and he was his deputy.

He will hold a rally in Orlando,

    Florida

, where everyone who has won since 1996 has also won the White House.

The last to win in Florida, which grants 29 electors and lost the presidential race, was George W. Bush Sr., who was also the last president to fail to win a second term.

Polls show a close battle between Biden and Trump, with a slight advantage for the Democratic candidate.

Trump is trying to change the discourse - but the corona is raging

Despite Trump's attempt to change the discourse from the corona plague, which claimed the lives of 225,000 Americans - more than any other country in the world, to its own virus virus.

Many areas in the United States are experiencing peaks in the number of infections, and at least five of his deputy Mike Pence's advisers have been diagnosed positive for the virus in recent days.

The vice president, who himself went to rallies in several important countries, was checked into Corona and came out negative.

According to a Reuters data analysis, the number of infections in the United States in the past week increased by 24% while the number of tests increased by 5.5%.

More than 5,600 people died in the United States within a week, ending October 25, a 15% increase from a week earlier.

The death toll has been rising for two consecutive weeks in at least 16 countries, compared to nine countries previously.

Polls show that most voters trust Biden more in dealing with the epidemic, which has taken a huge toll on the U.S. economy.

The majority, on the other hand, believe more in the Republican president in the economic sphere, and he argues that the Democrats, led by the party's radical wing, would establish a "socialist or communist" economy.

The death toll from Corona is rising again.

    Biden and Trump

Other issues at stake are racism and police violence, which exploded in the summer months following the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis by a white police officer.

Democrats want deep reforms in the law enforcement system, trying to encourage blacks to go out and vote after many of them stayed home in 2016 and denied Clinton an electorate that was critical to Obama's 2008 and 2012 victories.

Trump and Republicans, on the other hand, warn that under a possible Biden administration, "anarchy" will spread through the streets of cities in the United States.

The president is trying to present himself as someone who will bring law and order.

    Fear of foreign intervention

As four years ago, the danger of foreign intervention hovers over this year's elections.

In the intelligence community headed by an associate of Trump, attempts are being made to highlight the Iranians' attempts to challenge the procedure, but Democrats and intelligence experts point to Russia as a greater threat due to its highly developed cyber capabilities.

Moscow continues to deny that it intervened in favor of Trump in 2016 by hacking into Democratic Party computers and spreading misinformation on social media, while the president and Republicans tried throughout his first tenure to challenge the determination of U.S. intelligence services.

Biden said Russia was the biggest threat to US national security, while China described it as its biggest competitor.

The Kremlin said his remarks were wrong and encouraged hatred of Russia.

Trump's campaign claims that the Democratic candidate will be weak against China and is trying to bring into the discussion the business of his son, Hunter Biden, in China, Ukraine and other countries.

China and North Korea may also try to influence cyber elections.
