In view of the drastically increased corona numbers, Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) has called for rapid and consistent countermeasures from the federal and state governments.
"We have to prove ourselves tomorrow," said Söder after a cabinet meeting with a view to the upcoming deliberations between the Prime Minister and Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday.
The prime minister said the goal must be to reverse the trend in new corona infections.
"We don't want a complete second lockdown like we did in the spring."
Söder is obviously expecting a difficult session: "Of course, it won't be easy. And it is clear that it won't be nice either."
He advocates a procedure based on the motto: "Better to be right and right than late and half-hearted."
However, Söder did not name any concrete measures.
Keep schools open "as long as possible"
According to Söder's plans, however, operations at care and educational institutions should be maintained for as long as possible.
"Schools and daycare centers should be kept open the longest, as long as possible," said Söder.
When the situation eases, they should also be the first places to open again.
He called on the schools to show "the greatest possible flexibility" towards the students.
Numbers in Berchtesgadener Land and Rottal-Inn are falling slightly
In two Bavarian districts, extensive restrictions currently apply due to the extremely high number of cases.
In Rottal-Inn they are initially valid for ten days.
This includes a ban on accommodation for tourists, schools and daycare centers, cinemas, theaters, music and dance schools must remain closed.
People in the district are only allowed to leave their homes for reasons such as work, shopping or visits to the doctor.
Similar measures had already been adopted the previous week for the Berchtesgadener Land district.
According to the Robert Koch Institute, there were last 239.5 infections per 100,000 inhabitants with the corona virus in Rottal-Inn within seven days.
This means that the incidence value is above that of the Berchtesgaden district with currently 219 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants.
The districts have the highest number of infections in Germany, but the numbers have recently fallen slightly.
