US Presidential: at the heart of the "Trump House", where its supporters galvanize

2020-10-27T05:32:52.596Z

One week before the election, supporters of Donald Trump come in droves to visit this Pennsylvania country house repainted in 2016

To find the Trump House, in Westmoreland County in western Pennsylvania, just follow the white pick-up truck that displays banners bearing the likeness of Donald Trump on its platform.

At the wheel, Barry Kinsey, a sturdy 66-year-old, presents himself as the "bodyguard" of Leslie Rossi, local Republican delegate who built during the 2016 presidential campaign this real Trumpist temple, a typical country house entirely painted in flag American and flanked by a silhouette of the president-candidate 4m high, orange wick included.

"I'm also called

the savior

, because I saved a child from a fire in West Point in 1985," says Barry, "former firefighter, former marshal and former military policeman."

He plays Mr. Loyal in front of the dozens of visitors who wait before the opening in the morning cold, without a mask for many.

Some have come as a family, like Hawk, 49, surrounded by his parents in their seventies and two children eyeing campaign gadgets.

Others are painted in the colors of the candidate or America.

"Do not worry, he will win", thunders with laughter and applause Barry, finishing installing on the alley of small plastic crocodiles, decked out in a red t-shirt "Vote Trump", which snap their jaws as they move towards pictures of Biden, Obama, Hillary Clinton…

"Dry up the swamp of corruption," proclaims a sign.

"When entering the house, you sign the guestbook, receive free hats, t-shirts, pens and mugs…, but not the gun flag

(Editor's note: an American flag decorated with machine guns)

: you can buy it on the Internet for $ 9 and 11 cents ”… The most motivated - many - can also donate to the Trump campaign.

A state won by Trump in 2016

“Since the 2016 presidential election the number of visitors has tripled, we received 2,500 just last week,” says Leslie Rossi, 49, passionate about “restoring old homes and politics”.

But his great pride is to convert voters registered on the Democratic lists into Republican voters: “150 forms filled out every day between June and mid-October, date of closing of the lists!

Seen from Washington: the presidential campaign, Donald Trump and me

The stakes are high: in the last presidential election, Trump had created a surprise by winning Pennsylvania, a Democratic stronghold, ahead of Clinton by 44,000 small votes, out of a total of 6 million voters in this state.

This shift of the old “Penn” from Democratic “blue” to Republican “red”, added to that of Michigan and Wisconsin, other blue strongholds, was decisive in Donald Trump's victory.

But one week before the November 3 election, Joe Biden is leading the polls.

Even this county of Westmoreland, Trumpist in devil, sees flourish here and there in front of the houses of the signs "Biden-Harris" boldly planted by the inhabitants.

At 84, Ron, a retired civil service trade unionist and Democratic voter, nonetheless sees Donald Trump as his "best candidate and president for a long time."

With his energy, he alone can revive the country ”.

"Biden will not win, the Americans want a strong man at the head of the country, slice Mary-Pat Rob, 56, who came from Pittsburgh with her police husband.

Trump protects the Constitution, while Biden dreams of a socialist state ”.

Socialist, really?

"Yes, he wants the whole country to look like California, where everything is dirty and people do not obey the laws ... when there is."

This retiree from education admits that her champion sometimes behaves like a "jackass" - moron - "but at least he does not have the tongue of politicians".

“In 47 years of political life, Biden has never accomplished anything, he is just a skilful maneuver, accuses Kevin Thomson, accountant in a nearby town.

The proof, he chose his running mate for the vice-presidency, Kamala Harris, only because she is a woman and a person of color.

But she is incompetent and leftist, he chokes, we do not vote for a skin color!

Removed, Kevin also brushes aside accusations of mismanagement of the Covid-19 pandemic by Trump.

“Come on, 99% of the time it's just a bad flu, and we knocked the economy down because of it.

As soon as he is re-elected, the president will put everyone back to work ”.

Among the small crowd, no one doubts the victory of their hero.

The mere mention of a defeat brings out sincere tears in Franck Peters' eyes: "If he loses, the country is ruined".

Truck driver in the shale gas industry that "Biden wants to dismantle while Trump has invigorated it", Franck, 65, retired for four months, comes to the Trump House as a neighbor "almost every day" to to galvanize in the face of "media gossip".

He also takes selfies with visitors raving about Sheldon, his pit bull wearing the pro-Trump red t-shirt.

All the same, if he were beaten, his supporters could resort to violence?

“More bullshits (conner…) from journalists,” Kevin, the accountant, loses his temper.

The violence comes from the antifa and ultras of the so-called anti-racist movement, it is they who set the cities on fire.

In his next term, Trump will have to strike hard to bring law and order back to all of America's hot spots ”.

"We must deploy the soldiers of the National Guard there," adds a neighbor.

"It's crazy the energy of all these people, it gives courage," smiles Kerry Mariano, 49, who drove from West Virginia with her husband, and slept in a nearby hotel to be among the first.

This photographer specializing in real estate also believes defeat impossible: "A businessman and company, not a professional politician, that's what we need".

Leslie Rossi, slender in a light suit despite the cold, is loudly applauded on her arrival.

His greatest reward was given to him by Donald Trump by inviting him to the White House last August for his inaugural speech as Republican candidate.

"There, he pointed at me and said: are you really

the

Leslie Rossi?"

".
