A large tent roof makes the Corona test station winterproof on Theresienwiese in Munich.
The private place to check for the Sars-CoV-2 virus is still overrun.
Large tents on
Theresienwiese in Munich *
usually mean Oktoberfest fun with beer and music.
This year, however, it is different: The
corona infection
numbers also affect the cityscape.
The test station was made winterproof by the city, because a new "
wave
" has hit the city.
At the
test station at the Isartor,
the
queue
on Monday was a strain on
the nerves.
Munich - The sight is almost familiar - but then again disturbing.
Because: with large tents on Theresienwiese, the Munich resident actually associates a mass of beer, music and fun.
The new, large tent with the white roof, which now stands at the foot of the Bavaria, has nothing to do with such Oktoberfest joys.
The hall, which is roughly at the position of the rifle tent, will in future expand the
corona test station on Theresienwiese
.
Corona tests in Munich: huge rush due to increasing numbers of infections
In response to our request, the municipal department for health and the environment (RGU) confirmed that the tent construction should make the test station winterproof.
Both employees and test persons should be protected from low temperatures and precipitation during waiting times.
The actual tests will continue to take place in the smaller tents that are already known.
The numbers confirm that ideas of this kind are necessary.
There are more and more infections in Munich *, the
winter wave is
rolling in.
283 new cases were reported for Sunday, the 7-day incidence value climbs to 114.5.
15,377 infections have now been confirmed in Munich - this includes 12,337 recovered people and 240 deaths.
With the numbers, the demand for
corona tests
also seems
to increase.
Sometimes there are even long queues at private test sites, such as on Zweibrückenstrasse (see below).
And also at the test station on the Theresienwiese there are only a few appointments left for the current week.
The RGU has already expanded its capacities: from only 1000 to 1300 tests, since October 19, 1500 tests have been possible per working day, which are usually fully used!
And that in wind and weather - and in future a little more protected.
Corona in Munich: Mega rush to test practice at the Isartor
New week, old problems ... Last Thursday, the long queue in front of the
private test site
in
Zweibrückenstrasse at Isartor
caused displeasure.
Because the Isar schools are in the immediate vicinity.
On Monday the queue stretched back to the European Patent Office - and a similar picture may come up on Tuesday.
"After that it will normalize," says Dr.
Harald Krebs, doctor at the test station that belongs to the Sun Health Center.
The reason for the long queues was a mistake in the booking system: too many appointments were given at the same time.
“The error has been fixed,” said Krebs.
From Wednesday, everything should go according to plan.
Because actually the queue of those waiting should only run in the test site itself.
According to Krebs, this is around 800 square meters and offers space for up to 100 people waiting - distance rules are observed.
The space is also necessary, because in the future there will be up to 2000 tests per day here.
Important: make an appointment at www.corona-teststelle.de.
But the homepage is also reaching its limits and was repeatedly unavailable yesterday.
“We have already ordered a larger server,” says Krebs.
"We didn't expect this rush."
In the meantime, six patients have contracted Corona in a Munich intensive care unit - three of them were infected on site.
