Corona in Italy: New rules from Monday

Prime Minister Conte apparently wants to react directly to the increasing numbers.

According to the Italian media, he has been discussing a further tightening of the measures with high-ranking politicians since Saturday morning.

It is certain that the rules will be tightened - only the details are still being negotiated, writes La Repubblica.

However, the first details have already leaked.

Accordingly, a new decree should be signed that night or on Sunday morning and then be valid from Monday, October 26th.

According to the report, the draft decree contains the following innovations:

  • Restaurants, bars, pubs, pastry shops and ice cream parlors are completely closed on weekends.

On weekdays they are allowed to open between 5 a.m. and 6 p.m. or 8 p.m.

The times are still being discussed.

  • A maximum of four people are allowed to sit at a table in restaurants or bars during opening hours.

Corona in Italy: Lockdown threatens after new record numbers - again, the same region will be hit hardest

Update from October 23, 5:38 p.m.:

In

Italy

, the

corona numbers

continue to

rise

.

The last 16,000 new infections in one day were recorded.

The Italian government wants to avoid a new lockdown.

But compared to the first wave, the age structure gives a little hope.

Because instead of a

mean age of 71 years

for corona positive tests at the peak of the

first wave

, the

average age

at the end of August was

30 years

, according to the Italian health department.

This explains the low case mortality at the beginning of the second wave.

And not only was mortality low.

During the summer, the numbers in Italy were less than 200 cases per day.

The

personal physician of Silvio Berlusconi

declared the

virus not for "clinically dead"

, so n-tv.

But now, like in all of Europe, the numbers are rising again in Italy.

This is accompanied by an increased occupancy of the intensive care beds and especially in regions like Campania, which were virtually spared from the first wave, there is an

emergency

, according to n-tv.

Coronavirus in Italy: Mediterranean country reports 16,000 new infections - again, the same region is hit hardest

First report from October 23, 9.41 a.m.:

Milan - The pandemic situation in

Italy is

worsening: the country's health authorities recorded more than

16,000 new corona infections

within 24 hours

on Thursday

- a high.

The day before it was almost

15,200

.

In total,

more than

465,700

people

have been proven to be

infected

in the Mediterranean country with around

60 million inhabitants

, and the number of

deaths

in connection with the

Sars-CoV-2 virus

rose by

136

to 36,968

on Thursday

.

As with the first wave, the

hotspot

is

Lombardy in

northern

Italy

with

Milan

as the capital.

The following tweet from the Italian newspaper

Corriere della Sera

shows a current scene from the metropolis:

Coprifuoco a Milano: città deserta e presidiata dalle forze dell'ordine https://t.co/v555WGGaJY pic.twitter.com/KPaCV8NVm3

- Corriere della Sera (@Corriere) October 23, 2020

Coronavirus in Italy: Fear of shortages - and another lockdown.

The dynamics of the second corona wave are increasingly causing fear of serious

bottlenecks in hospitals

in Italy

.

Prime Minister

Giuseppe Conte

called on the Italians on Thursday in a speech in the Senate in Rome

to refrain from

all unnecessary

travel

.

A big

lockdown

like in spring should be avoided.

Now, however, the government is taking the strictest

corona measure

since the national lockdown: From Friday evening, there will be a

night curfew

for the

Lazio region

, which also includes the capital

Rome

, as well as for

Campania

with Naples.

In

Lombardy

, the curfew should come into force on Thursday evening.

The curfews are valid for

30 days

.

Between

11 p.m.

and

5 a.m.

, leaving the house or apartment is only permitted in

exceptional cases

- for

medical

or

professional

reasons.
