Every week, Prime Minister Markus Söder invites you to a press conference marathon.

New things rarely come out.

It comments Merkur.de * editor Veronika Mahnkopf.

  • Markus Söder

    seems to be

    omnipresent on TV

since the beginning of the corona pandemic

    .

  • Too much, too often and exhausting, says

    Merkur.de

    * editor Veronika Mahnkopf - and wants more content and less self-presentation.

  • Read her comment below.

It's the beginning of the week again.

The beginning of the week is called:

Söder

Press Conference Marathon.

This Tuesday it seems to be rather moderate.

Only one PK, at 1 p.m.

Last week it looked different: long haul!

One

press conference

followed the next.

Content?

Not much.

But always the same phrases.

In all honesty, Mr. Söder: That won't do anything!

On Monday last week,

Prime Minister

Markus Söder

announced that he would

issue a press statement at 10 a.m.

At 10 o'clock he said in this very thing: nothing.

At least nothing of substance.

Just this much: there will be a

press conference

at

12 noon

.

This took place - and again: no news.

Instead, he referred to the government statement on Wednesday.

In this then (finally) something new: There's a new color on the

Corona

-

traffic light

.

Dark red.

As the grand finale of the marathon: a video message, at least with a few encouraging words.

Phew ...

Several Söder press conferences every week because of Corona: people become dull

What's that supposed to do every week?

Nothing comes out of it.

Except that people become numb.

The Bavarians have heard so often that they will soon all have to hide at home again.

That the numbers will increase immeasurably.

That the hospitals will be at their limit at some point.

Even the worst disaster prophecies, repeated umpteen times, no longer work at some point.

Markus Söder's

rhetoric has long stopped shuddering at these press conferences.

“It's going to be a lonely Christmas,” he said last week.

There has to be “more mask”, he said.

"If we do more now, we will have to live with fewer end-results later," he waved a raised index finger.

Markus Söder invites you to one press conference after the next: Corona is exhausting enough

Unfortunately, the many horror scenarios and gloomy prospects, but also the "

caution

and

circumspection

"

that has been

dug out over

and

over again

do not

bring

anything if you just keep repeating these words.

The numbers keep increasing.

And people don't listen anymore.

You said, Mr Söder, that people have to take part.

So we all the "national effort" called

coronavirus

-

pandemic

reasonably survive well.

You're right.

It is a national effort.

And that consumes enough, costs us all strength without end.

That's why we don't need your weekly self-staging marathon as well.

Corona

is exhausting enough.
