In Arivaca (Arizona, United States)
Half a dozen volunteers arrived for their meeting on Sunday afternoon at the Humanitarian Aid Office in Arivaca, a remote village located 20 kilometers as the crow flies from the Mexican border and 30 kilometers from its nearest neighbor.
They stealthily entered the small white house with blue borders and windows protected by bars.
The one on the facade displays two signs.
One affirms that
“humanitarian aid is never a crime”,
the other is a warning:
“Advice to the Border Patrol
(border police, editor's note)
: no entry without a search warrant”.

Since 2017, humanitarian action volunteers have been harassed, and even threatened recently, both by armed vigilantes from the various militias that swarm in this region bordering Arizona, and by federal agents of the Border Patrol.
