In future, three women will run the Gautinger Kunstverein.
Because of the corona pandemic, they were chosen under rather unusual conditions.
Gauting
- The Gautinger Kunstverein, founded in 1972 by painter Stefan Britt, has recently been headed by a trio of women: the freelance artist Jane Höchstetter, who ran the Gautinger Schlosscafé and cultural program with Stefan Berchtold until 2009, was elected to succeed Bernd Wiedemann.
As a first project, Jane Höchstetter and her deputies, the Gautingen graphic designer Sabine Karmazin and artist Urja Birgit Burkhard, are organizing the autumn exhibition in the town hall.
From Friday, October 30th, Kunstverein members will present their works there under the title “Frustration and Joy”.
Due to the corona, the election of the board of directors took place on the outdoor terrace of the sports club restaurant.
But after the election there was turbulence: The initially elected vice, the photo artist Christoph Ramm, gave up his position on the board again, confirmed Jane Höchstetter when asked.
That is why she co-opted Sabine Karmazin as the second deputy, i.e. appointed her without election.
With Urja Birgit Burkhard, the new management trio of the Kunstverein is complete again.
Since Sabine Karmazin is also active in the German-French-English partnership association, she is “well connected”, says Höchstetter happily.
She will make new contacts with those active in the rich Gauting art scene such as the Reismühl studio community or the cultural platform.
In the art association, which currently has 150 members, there are different currents, the new chairwoman admits.
With the exhibition “Frustration and Joy” in the town hall, she will therefore also offer “social exchange” in dialogue.
Every member of the association has the chance to submit a small work up to DIN A3.
As the daughter of the artist Inifrau von Rechenberg, she grew up with the Gautinger Kunstverein, emphasizes the former academy master student.
Jane Höchstetter personally experienced the late painter and association founder Stefan Britt, but also the legendary artist and art association patron Thomy Niederreuther.
His widow Gudrun Siebert-Niederreuther was a committed chairwoman for many years.
After the illustrator, caricaturist and Klinge culture award winner Bernd Wiedemann had given up the head of the association for professional reasons this year (we reported), the self-employed entrepreneur Höchstetter was chosen.
As a “family member” she feels “warmly connected” to the association, she says, who was ennobled with the Klinge Culture Prize for her commitment in the castle café.
"It goes on", emphasized the new chairman over the next few months.
After the exhibition in the town hall, two more are planned for 2021.
Due to Corona, a registration for the vernissage "Frustration and Joy" with a maximum of 33 people on Friday, October 30th, from 6 p.m. at info@kunstverein-gauting.de is inevitable.
Finissage, also with registration, is on November 19th.
