While the deputies debate the 2021 Budget inside the compound,

a silent bid is given in the offices of the Frente de Todos.

The article that created a special customs zone -which exempts from all national taxes- in Misiones aroused the claim of the neighboring governors, of Chaco and Formosa, who demand "

equal conditions

.

"

But the requests began to spread to the rest of the provinces and forced the Minister of Economy, Martín Guzmán, to intervene to set limits.

The article in question was incorporated last week in the Budget committee, minutes before the opinion was signed.

It exempts from the imposition of all national taxes - including Profits, VAT, Personal Assets and even those that may be created in the future - to the activities or operations carried out within the area called POLO Misiones.

The objective is to give that province competitiveness against its neighbors in Brazil and Paraguay.

“For those of us from this province, which is almost like an island embraced by more than a thousand kilometers of border with Brazil and Paraguay and has 30 border crossings, this Budget is very important.

The customs area increases job offers and gives competitiveness, something that we asked for a long time ago.

It will help us stand up, it restores hope.

It will be a before and after for Misiones

”, highlighted the missionary legislator of the FdT.

But the ruling party leaders Gildo Insfrán (Formosa) and Jorge "Coqui" Capitanich through their senators put themselves on the warpath due to the competitive disadvantages that this tax benefit will generate for their neighboring province.

They claimed that the decision "destabilizes the region" and called for "equal conditions."

Late in the afternoon, in the office of the President of the Deputies, Sergio Massa, an agreement had been reached to extend this promotion benefit to the four NEA provinces, including Corrientes.

“My fellow missionaries have received a benefit.

I propose, ask and I understand that this will be the case, a special customs area to benefit the NEA provinces ”, the PRO, Sofia Brambilla, from Corrientes, said at the venue.

But that change, in turn,

aroused the claim of the other regions

of the country who denounced that this would destabilize the entire intra-federal system.

The situation forced the Minister of Economy, Martín Guzmán, to intervene.

The official closed a proposal to modify the articles and leave a broader wording, which delegates the regulation in the hands of the Executive.

The proposal that was being considered at the last minute was an article that empowers the Executive, through the Ministry of Economy and the Interior, to create special customs areas in different geographical areas, where bilateral trade with neighboring countries is verified.

Not convinced, the northern leaders continued to insist.

There is time until the voting on the articles in particular, late in the morning, to make changes.

It was recognized by the ruling party and president of the Budget Committee, Carlos Heller, at the start of the day.

"There were many changes included in the last version of the text, but we continue working and considering some things that are raised," he said at the beginning of the session and assured that the final changes would be read at the time of voting.
