Confinement, community violence, terrorism: these twilight hours for France

2020-10-29T18:47:59.605Z

FIGAROVOX / TRIBUNE - Since Wednesday evening, the news seems to have been packed. Jean-Loup Bonnamy deciphers one by one these different symptoms of a country which no longer has confidence in itself and no longer knows how to cope.

Normalien, associate of philosophy, Jean-Loup Bonnamy is a specialist in geopolitics and political philosophy.

He has just published, with Renaud Girard,

When psychosis makes the world derail

(“Tracts” collection, Gallimard, € 3.90), where he criticizes confinement and announced the possibility of a second wave and the need to arm hospitals to deal with it.

“No more confinement”, “reconfiguring would be a disaster for our economy”, “we have to get on the tiger and learn to live with the virus”

.

The President of the Republic had however sworn that he would not be taken back to confining the country.

However, faced with the epidemic upsurge of Covid-19 and the risk of saturation of hospitals, he had to come to terms with it.

But while he announced their reconfinement to the French, some have found better things to do than listen to the speech of the head of state.

This is the case, for example, of hundreds of members of the Turkish community in the Lyon region.

Obviously little concerned about the respect of barrier gestures and probably not having heard of the ban on gatherings, they engaged in a real anti-Armenian pogrom in the streets.

As after each attack, we heard the same official speeches, mixing promises of firmness and republican values.

Waking up the next day was even more difficult.

Less than 15 days after the assassination of Samuel Paty, an Islamist terrorist entered a church in Nice and killed three people.

Let us note in passing that our country is often accused of racism, that we denounce its "police violence", but at the time of writing, our doctors - while the hospitals are overcrowded - are in the operating theater in the process. to try to save the life of the assassin injured by the Police.

In Morocco or Algeria, he would have been left to bleed himself in the street.

On the same day, an attack was foiled in Avignon and an Afghan migrant arrested in Lyon.

Armed with a knife, he said “he wanted to behave like in Nice”.

Tireless VRP of emotion, the Head of State decided to go immediately there.

As after each attack, we heard the same official speeches, mixing promises of firmness and republican values.

Decidedly, it was the crazy day of Mr. Macron.

This is what our news now looks like: an alternation of attacks - Covid - communitarianism - attacks - Covid - communitarianism ... Repetitive, crises end up being alike.

Whether it is about the attacks or the pandemic, the President speaks in a martial tone and in both cases brings together "a Security and Defense Council".

In both cases, we have the same vocabulary: “red”, “scarlet”, “alert” will apply to the virus as well as to the attacks.

For the pandemic, we have containment.

For terrorism, we have Vigipirate.

Both are useless.

But it does not matter.

Let's pretend they are useful for something.

Today, France is cut in three.

A France which is afraid of the Covid and wants confinement.

A France (more and more numerous) which is hostile to confinement and fears for the economy.

And a France that does not care much about the Covid and the economy and which prioritizes violence, community nationalism and politico-religious fanaticism.

This hallucinating combination of events that took place in less than twenty-four hours reveals the disintegration of our country.

This hallucinating combination of events that took place in less than twenty-four hours reveals the disintegration of our country.

The disintegration of our hospital system, which is again overwhelmed by the influx of a few thousand patients in intensive care.

Economic disintegration: the first confinement had already been an absolute disaster, the second will make matters even worse.

Identity disintegration of a fragmented nation.

But this great disintegration is itself due to the absence of State strategy.

Let's go over the facts one by one.

Containment?

Nothing proves the health effectiveness of this archaic method.

Argentina has been confined since the spring and the number of Covid deaths is still increasing there.

Wanting to stop an epidemic with containment is like wanting to stop the sea with your arms.

The virus is a creation of nature.

If the epidemic stopped everywhere in Europe in May (including in Sweden, a country which did not use containment or masks), it is largely for natural reasons.

If it resumes today (except in Sweden for the moment), it is not because of a "relaxation" of the French or too rapid deconfinement (as claimed by François Hollande) or a loss of control, but for natural reasons.

It is a well known fact that in temperate regions like Europe (this is not the case in other types of climates), respiratory viruses are more contagious and more violent in the winter season, when the weather is wet.

Even without the Covid, hospital services are under strain in winter (as evidenced by news reports from 2019, 2018, 2017 ...).

However, a priori, confinement does not have the capacity to influence the weather.

The problem of the Covid is not at all its mortality (well below 0.5%: out of 1,046 contaminated Charles de Gaulle sailors, none died) but its ability to saturate hospital services.

Especially since for 15 years, our hospital has been weakened by budget cuts,

35 hours and the bad administration of a bureaucracy as incompetent as it is bloated.

It would therefore have been necessary to live a normal summer but to arm our hospital services so that they can face the fall and winter situation.

Nothing was done.

So we are back to the situation in March.

20,000 intensive care beds are needed instead of the current 5,000, as well as a large number of intensive care beds, and the country can then return to a completely normal life.

There is only one viable solution to get the country out of the rut: lift the lockdown on December 1 (or even before) to save our economy and use the whole month of November to put in place a big plan to emergency which will massively increase hospital capacity.

For this, we must mobilize the army (as the Swedes did in the spring), but also the private clinics, liberal doctors and nurses, retired nurses, housekeepers (to relieve caregivers of all non-workloads). medical, such as redoing the beds) ... This is the only way out of the crisis.

20,000 intensive care beds are needed instead of the current 5,000, as well as a large number of intensive care beds, and the country can then resume a completely normal life despite the circulation of the virus.

For this, it is necessary to adopt the plans and methods of the war economy.

We can do it.

Our ancestors were able to do much more in 1914.

The community pogroms in the Lyon region, four months after the clashes between Chechens and North Africans in Dijon?

They are - just like Islamist terrorism - the result of mass immigration, which has introduced communities, customs and problems from abroad into our country.

The President wants - rightly - to fight separatism.

But then again, his policy will be ineffective if it does not tackle the root problem: immigration.

When we have a problem with stocks, we start by cutting flows.

Instead of discussing halal in supermarkets, the Minister of the Interior would do better to reinstate the double sentence (in order to expel all foreign offenders once their sentence has been served), to abolish the status of "isolated minor" ( 80% of fraud by adults pretending to be minors!), To abolish family reunification, to dismantle the channels of illegal immigration and to stop distributing residence permits with a vengeance.

It might also be wise to dismantle Erdogan's networks of influence in France and legalize the Kurdish PKK, which fights against Erdogan but which France insists on considering as a "terrorist organization".

If Charlie-Hebdo had never published cartoons on Islam, the Kouachi brothers would not have stayed at home.

Sunni Islamist terrorism?

Our country has been under attack since 1994!

After the assassination of Samuel Paty.

The motivations of this horrible act were misunderstood and we started again in yet another debate on the caricatures of Muhammad, freedom of expression and secularism.

Yet Khaled Kelkal, Mohammed Merah, Mehdi Nemmouche, Coulibaly, the assassin of Father Hamel, the attackers of Bataclan or the terrorist from Nice who threw his truck on the crowd on the evening of July 14, 2016, did not need the cartoons to taking action.

If Charlie-Hebdo had never published cartoons on Islam, the Kouachi brothers would not have stayed at home.

They would have simply chosen another target: soldiers, police, Jews leaving a synagogue or in a kosher store, Christians in a church (as it just happened in Nice) or even random passers-by in the streets.

Likewise, if Samuel Paty had never shown the cartoons, his killer would have just found another person to behead.

And the Islamists did not need cartoons to plunge Algeria and Syria, two Muslim countries, into a bloody civil war or to detonate bombs in Kabul, Damascus and Baghdad.

If we want the spiral to stop, we must attack terrorism at its root: both by taking the appropriate security measures (expulsion of foreign Islamists, life imprisonment of French jihadists, rupture with the Government of judges, etc.) and by operating our moral rearmament (rehabilitation of patriotism and the National Romanesque, etc.).

How can we ask young Muslims to love our country when our country does not love itself?

When he publicly read the letter from Henri Fertet (shot at the age of 17 by the Nazis), Emmanuel Macron put aside the passage where the young Resistance Bisontin spoke of “eternal France”.

It is not with empty, abstract and cutesy speeches on secularism or the values of the Republic that we will be able to remake the national fabric.

The only way to achieve this is precisely to exalt "eternal France", its flag, its army, its battles, its heroes: Clovis, Charlemagne (who was also the friend of the Muslim caliph of Baghdad Haroun al- Rachid, a historical fact whose evocation to the students would be much more powerful than all the silly calls to “living together”), Saint-Louis, Joan of Arc, Napoleon, de Gaulle ...

We can therefore see that our country is caught in a number of spirals.

Each time the same pattern: we are trapped in the spiral due to a lack of strategy and a lack of analysis of the real causes of the problems.

With Covid-19 (and other pandemics to come), as long as we don't have a war plan for hospitals, we will go from deconfinement to containment.

With communitarianism, France will fragment and go from community violence to community violence as long as we do not dry up the source of the problem, that is to say immigration.

With terrorism, the cycle of attacks (opened in 1994) will not stop until we take the necessary security measures and operate our essential patriotic recovery.
