The United States reports nearly 79,000 new cases

The United States reported 78,981 new COVID-19 cases and 994 deaths on Wednesday, according to Johns Hopkins University.
National totals now stand at 8,856,413 confirmed COVID-19 infections and at least 227,685 virus-related deaths.
Totals include cases from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and other US territories, as well as repatriated cases.

Cases in India exceed 8 million

India surpassed 8 million coronavirus cases on Thursday after reporting 49,871 new infections in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The country's total number of cases now stands at 8,040,203, including more than 7.3 million recoveries and 120,527 deaths.
Globally, India is only behind the United States in the number of infections.
The number of daily cases in India has been falling to the lowest levels in three months, rising slower than expected in recent weeks.
It took India 18 days to go from 7 million registered cases to the 8 million mark, compared to 13 days to reach 6 million and 11 days to reach 7 million cases, according to a CNN tally. of figures from the Indian Ministry of Health.
More than 106.5 million coronavirus tests have been performed as of Wednesday, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research.
Capital Increase: New Delhi goes against the national downward trend as authorities reported 5,673 new COVID-19 cases there on Wednesday, the highest single-day rise to date that carried the total number cases from the capital to 370,014, according to the Delhi government health department.
The New Delhi total includes more than 334,000 recovered patients and 6,396 deaths.
Patients with mild and moderate symptoms in India are no longer considered active after 10 days of symptom onset if they meet certain conditions.
A test is not required to confirm that they no longer have the virus.

The death toll in Mexico exceeds 90,000

Mexico already has the fourth highest number of COVID-19 deaths of any country, but officials have long said that the actual number of people who have died from the virus is likely higher than reported due to the Lack of evidence.
After examining the numbers this week, health officials concluded that at least 50,000 more people are likely to have died as a result of the coronavirus than was officially reported.
The Health Ministry also reported 5,595 new cases of coronavirus on Wednesday, bringing the country's total to 906,863.
