The district facility in the Maierhof of the Benediktbeurer monastery wants to change some things structurally.

How it will ultimately be specifically regulated is still open.

Benediktbeuern - The specialist home care advisory service is expected to move out of the Benediktbeuern monastery.

The establishment of the district of Upper Bavaria has been based in the west wing of the Maierhof since 2004.

This is also the temporary place of work for district home nurse Norbert Göttler.

"There are changes going on, but none of that is concrete yet," said the renowned local history researcher when asked.

Whatever the course of the upheaval, Benediktbeuern will in any case "remain an important location in the Upper Bavaria district", assures Göttler.

He is regularly in Benediktbeuern himself and wants to keep it that way.

As a tenant, the district has invested a lot in the rooms over the past 16 years.

Now you have to position yourself for the future.

"We think about what our facilities will look like in 2030," says Göttler.

"The district is still present in Benediktbeuern"

In addition to the home care, which was introduced 16 years ago as the home care information center (HIZ) in the monastery village, the costume information center (TIZ) is also housed in the Maierhof - with more than 20,000 items of clothing so far.

This collection and also the educational facility may be expanded, says Kerstin Schwabe from the district's press office.

Due to Corona, however, much is still uncertain at the moment.

Home care withdraws, but stays there

According to the press office, it is certain that two home care clerks are to be withdrawn from Benediktbeuern.

“They are mainly busy processing funding applications,” says Schwabe.

This is currently happening largely from the home office anyway and works perfectly.

The relocation to the state capital also brings synergy effects.

A part-time employee who works in Benediktbeuern not only for homeland maintenance, but also for the Glentleiten open-air museum, will also move to Munich.

"The district is still present in Benediktbeuern," assures Schwabe.

There is only a small shift.

With many exhibitions worth seeing, they have earned a good reputation.

It is important to keep it up.

The specialist advice has set itself the goal of "bringing tradition and modernity into harmony in order to combine the past, present and future".

District institution has a wide range of tasks

The district facility has a wide range of tasks: On the one hand, the specialist advice on Heimatpflege takes care of the structural and cultural heritage of Upper Bavaria, specifically the financial and conceptual preservation of around 25,000 monuments, including castles, churches, old farmhouses and public buildings.

On the other hand, she advises individuals, associations and authorities on all questions of regional culture - from environmentally and culturally compatible tourism to the maintenance of language and dialects.
