A fire that is raging today (Thursday) in the Hermon Nature Reserve caused heavy damage in the reserve, and consumed more than 1,500 dunams of grove where unique animals live.

The fire broke out during an IDF exercise, which is not compatible with the Nature and Parks Authority, according to the authority. The IDF claims that coordination was made with the relevant authorities and that the exercise was stopped when the flames broke out.



Firefighting and rescue forces with the help of the IDF fire brigade continue firefighting efforts in the reserve, which is home to wildlife unique to the highlands of the country, including jackals, foxes, pigs, wolves and rare reptiles such as the Hermon viper.



Despite the raging fire and heavy damage to the reserve, To the Nature and Parks Authority that it intends to continue firing mortars and ammunition, as part of a General Staff exercise conducted by the military.
