Special envoy to Dabou and Débrimou
The central place of Débrimou resembles that of all the villages of western Côte d'Ivoire.
A vast esplanade of beaten earth bordered by small shops, a bar and, in the background, the silhouette of concrete and metal sheets muted by the humidity of a covered market.
It is almost empty and very calm this Saturday, except for a few women and a group of idle young men.
Jean-Baptiste, who presents himself as
"the leader of the young people
" of this large village, asserts too quickly:
"Here, nothing happened."
The worried face of the
“Mauritanian”
, as grocers from Muslim communities are systematically called, nevertheless tells another story.
But Jean-Baptiste insists.
"The problems stayed there"
, he said, pointing to the track which, through the rubber trees, leads to Dabou, a quarter of an hour's walk away.
