The Ministry of Transportation informed yesterday (Wednesday) to the representatives of the "Yango" taxi app that the taxi service at a pre-determined price offered by the company is illegal.
In addition, the ministry began taking enforcement action against drivers who work with the company, when yesterday, at least ten of them were summoned for questioning and fined thousands of shekels.
The announcement was made to the company's representatives during a routine hearing at the Ministry of Transportation yesterday, in which the ministry's legal department told Yango's representatives that the company's activity on the FIX route - which allows taxis to be ordered at a pre-determined price - is completely against the law.
This announcement marks another change in the Ministry of Transportation's conduct vis-à-vis Yango, after the ministry announced in May that the service was illegal, but a few days later it referred the matter to "investigation", on the instructions of Transportation Minister Miri Regev and contrary to the legal staff's position.

The decision means exposing more than 3,000 drivers who work with the company and provide service in this route - for violating the law, following which they are subject to fines.
At the same time, it was learned that at least ten drivers were summoned for questioning and clarification by the Ministry of Transportation, at the end of which they were fined NIS 5,000.
Riding a taxi without operating a meter is a violation of the law in Israel, except in certain cases, such as a business arrangement with a company where fares are set in advance.
In Yango, drivers are instructed to mark this option when they provide a service to a passenger who has booked a ride on this route and a video explaining how to perform the operation is even posted on their YouTube channel.
Thousands are subject to punishment.

Byango have argued all along that operating the service in the format in which it is operated does not constitute a violation of the law, and have continued to offer it.
Although passenger response to the proposed service was high, the Ministry of Transport has so far fortified its position and refused to allow the company to operate it.
The current clash comes amid discussions in the ministry about the introduction of new and smart travel meters for use.
These masses will report the location, distance, travel time and in fact any movement of the taxi.
Thus, they will significantly reduce the number of unreported trips.
It should be noted that the use of such meters can make it easier to control travel prices, even if a service such as FIX is activated.
Yango: "Committed to local law; Egypt for harming competition"
Yango responded: "Since the Ministry of Transportation's request in May, a dialogue has begun between Yango and the Ministry of Transportation. In addition, in June, the Minister of Transportation, Miri Regev, announced that she had decided to reconsider the decision to close the service. "FIX until a thorough and in-depth review of the service and its benefits for the benefit of passengers and drivers. As previously stated, Yango is committed to and complies with local law, we only work with taxi drivers licensed to operate taxis and official stations."
Regarding service tariffs, the company stated that "The pricing method we chose for the FIX service - presenting the price to the passenger before booking the trip, is one of the best and fair methods in the world, both for passengers and drivers - and we have much evidence that it has a positive effect on industry and industry. "Egypt for the fact that various factors continue to try and harm competition in the taxi market and taxi drivers, especially in this period of economic uncertainty, immediately after another closure in the State of Israel."
