Saudi Arabia has "
strongly condemned
" the knife attack which left three dead Thursday, October 29 in a basilica in the heart of Nice.

We strongly condemn and denounce the terrorist attack which left people dead and injured (...) in Nice, France,
" the Saudi Foreign Ministry said on Twitter.
"
We reiterate the kingdom's categorical rejection of such extremist acts which are contrary to all religions, beliefs and common sense,
" the text adds.
He further calls for “
rejecting practices that lead to hatred, violence and extremism
”.
The attack in Nice occurred the same day a security guard from the French consulate in the Saudi city of Jeddah (west) was stabbed with a knife.
Neither the embassy nor the Saudi authorities have specified the motive for the attack, which took place amid anger in the Middle East against French President Emmanuel Macron.

Emmanuel Macron recently defended the cartoons of the Prophet of Islam Muhammad during a national tribute after the attack by an Islamist extremist who beheaded a French teacher, Samuel Paty on October 16, who showed them to a class during the 'a course on freedom of expression.
Saudi Arabia did not comment on the French president's remarks but said it rejects any attempt to link Islam to "
terrorism
".
