The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Democrat Nancy Pelosi, seeks to resume negotiations with the White House on around 10 points of the new economic relief package against the coronavirus, after the talks stopped last week.
Earlier this week, the president, Donad Trump, and Pelosi traded blame for the lack of a deal.
Although both parties agreed that the legislation could be passed before the November 3 elections, they insisted that someone should yield to it.
"As the coronavirus rises and the stock market crashes,
we are
still
awaiting the responses promised
by the Trump Administration on multiple points of critical importance," Pelosi wrote in a letter addressed to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin today.

Last week, he recalled, the White House announced that it would only make slight changes to the language proposed by the Democrats when referring to the testing, tracking and treatment of COVID-19.
Pelosi is seeking the bill to indicate that President Trump's administration will implement a science-based national virus strategy, according to the letter.
The White House has also not answered the Democrats whether it will agree to provide extra funds to state and local governments;
and whether the reopening of schools will depend on strict sanitation, ventilation and social separation measures.
Negotiations also stalled as Democrats seek funding for the Earned Income Tax Credit, the Child Tax Credit, and unemployment insurance.

“The president's words that 'after the election, we'll get the best stimulus package I've ever seen' only make sense if he can get Mitch McConnell to take his hand off the pause button and
move
Republican Senate representatives
toward a agreement
with the Chamber, ”Pelosi said.
Republican senators do not support the White House plan for a more ambitious stimulus package and have tried to push through a project that does not include the $ 1,200 check.
Democrats and Trump want a bigger package, with a check, but they differ on other points.

Pelosi warned that even if Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden wins the Nov. 3 election, she will not allow "small" legislation to pass.
“We are not talking about size, we are talking about quality.
We are not going to accept a small bill that still has provisions that Democrats consider unacceptable, ”said Pelosi.
Faced with criticism for having confirmed Judge Amy Coney Barret to the Supreme Court before passing a new relief package, Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnell pointed out Pelosi refusing to agree to "anything remotely reasonable."

For his part, in an interview with Jon Taffer, Trump said: “Once we pass the elections, we will succeed.
It may be bipartisan, it may not have to be.
[...] Immediately after the elections, we will achieve it one way or another ”.
